i agree, thats what i was trying to say originally. sorry about the BS op.

Uf Dah, this thread has a lot going on... I'm a welder not an engineer or drafter. I dont like drawing or drafting. I just weld what needs to welded.

"On a windows program"? You sir dont know what you are talking about. That is Google SketchUp, that is an ARCHITECTURAL program.

Welding prints are different, but mechanical drawings are pretty similar. Pretty sure a lot of them use that program called...um oh yeah CAD

Plus personally I would rather have someone else point out stuff I could do differently or a little better rather than my teacher. Let alone if they mark off points cause of it. Secondly if I was his teacher and saw that he did that and no one else did I might be will helping to help him more than everyone else.

My whole post was go give Bilknutz some advice and really talk to Bruce about it...kinda why I quoted him and not Bilknutz original post. And the only reason I said architectural student was because I know what Im talking about not blowing smoke out of my ***. No where in my post was I attacking Bilknutz or being a douche bag like you. So why do you take your tiny ***** syndrome some where else, unless you have some actually constructive information to add.
I agree with you. If you're going to take the time to draw it then you should draw it correctly.

If you draw it you want it to look right, no? The way it's drawn implies that it would be a low profile, small, good looking bumper. The numbers tell me it's going to be huge!

I mean, I understand if that's the best you can do but I feel like if it's going to be done then go the extra 2 feet and do it right.

Other than that, it looks great. I sure wish someone could pay for the steel I use.

If the drawings were correct there'd be no boxes would need to be broken down in the making of this bumper.

Don't worry about the naysayers Bill. Do what you want. Cut it, tack it and if it doesn't turn out right, cut it apart and rebuild it. Like an old foreman of mine said years ago "it's not a ****up until it leaves the shop ****ed up".

Welders------making engineers fantasy a reality for the last 200 years.

Ah, but don't engineer's provide correct drawings for fab/weld to work with?

(Well, Engineers with any pride. Can't speak for all of them.)

Why? What else is there to do until he starts posting pictures and building this thing? He's going to have to build it three times. One different one for each view.

I agree: if its going to be done, it should be done correctly. Correctly in this case is using a proper modeling program, or a drafting square and a ruler, or any other way of visualizing a product (like cardboard). For this person's skillset and idea, making a bumper for a project, I think he did ok. His dimensions are a little off, but he has a certain look he's trying to achieve, so dimensions can come later. Which is why I suggested cardboard.
Get the looks right, then measure the dimensions you'll need to get that look.

Its such a crappy shear... the back stopper is bent... the measure is off... but it can cut the steel up to 1/4 so it works

Started tacking up more piece today. I keep changing the measurements since it was shaped differently then the print.
