so today I went ahead and ground down all of the welds to make it look pretty! and then i gave it a good coat of high build "rust stop". once i figure out what i want to paint it with, whether it be bed liner or standard flat black i will take a 3m sanding block to it and give about 6 good coats!
I am leaving the trailer hitch crome though....

Thanks man!!!
Yup. it is now black, but I had some D-rings go missing so I painted them lavender so that way I can identify mine when doing with recovery's and there were multiple d-rings and what not being used. I never had a D-ring walk off after that

what are you using for the 7th rearmost hole? i could only see 6 on mine. and do you run the bolts all the way through the "frame rails"? is there any kind of sleeving going on? maybe a pic of the bracket bolted up would help me. thanks.

It has been used to be winched off of:

No worries at all. you have to remember it is welded on the front all the way round an then on the backside too. it is not face mounted.
