Also can't wait to see pics of it finished on the roof!
I also have the stock rack. I just took my stock rails off and heated and bent some bolt rod into hooks and drilled holes into the outside rails and put a nut on the top. ill post some pictures if your interested

I still don't understand how you mounted the rack onto your roof?

I don't understand how either one of you mounted the rack to the roof...Is there anyway you could show some pictures, and give a little better detail on how you mounted it onto the roof. Thanks and I love this idea!

well i posted pictures and explained how i did mine but I'll explain it again.

I bought Bolt rod. its a rod that is treaded like a bolt so you can cut it and put nuts on it. The nut you see that is next to the crossmember is the bolt rod

I cut the bolt rod into small pieces and used a torch and hammer to Flatten and Bend one end of the rod into a Flat Hook shape. Like So...

I then used the Factory roof rack rails that have a lip on the inside and i turned the hooks into that lip. then i put a nut on the top of the bolt rod and tightened it down and you end up with what you see in the first picture.

As for the OP, it looks like he just used the factory roof rack and U bolted it to crossmember of the Rack he built.
