Default Built some bumpers...

I've been pretty lazy building these, been concentrating on fixing some issues that popped up on both Jeeps. Now I got a shiny new plasma cutter and I figured I couldn't put it off to much longer now that I have it road worthy again.

Rear bumper is 1/4" angle iron and 3/16" steel. I've got a little bit of bracing to do on the back as I just found a design flaw.
This is what I had built before, but never cared enough to fill in the spots below the tail lights.

And now with the fill plates welded in...huge improvement. But still not completely done.

And here's where I'm currently at with the front bumper...Still need to grind the welds down and finish the side pieces that go under the front fender...and weld the back side of it. 3/16" 2" tubing on top, 3/16 plate on the lower pieces, mounted to the unibody with 1/4" plates that extend quite a ways back and use a few extra holes...7 total on the drivers side and 4 on the passenger for the moment.

Nice work. I am always astonished at anyone who can craft stuff like that though.

Forgot to mention, they are built almost 100% from scrap metal. I bought the receiver tube, which was like $12 and enough for front and back. The rest was just junk I had laying around.

Question for you on the reciever hitchs where do you put your lock pin? I have always wondered that with these short hitch setups I had mine done for me at a fab sho and looks similar to your back bumper but mine sits out enough to toss a hitch pin in there and some eyes for trailer hooks as well.

Mine were done about 8 months back by A/T Fab In Plano Texas

It goes in behind. It's a pita with a locking pin, but a typical pin is pretty easy.

Mine isn't a tube, just a few pieces of angle iron. A tube would have had to be pinned from the front like yours.

The license plate was meant for a car that I traded for this XJ...but it just happens to work out really well on this one

I got the backside all welded last night and now I'm just reinforcing a few spots. Hope to have it done by the weekend so I can hit up one of the local spots.

Looks pretty good. The finish work is good too. I especially enjoy how you brought the rear around to protect the quarters. Keep it up.
