I know that there are tons of these but I figured I'd show another. Sorry I didn't take pics while I was building it cuz my shop isn't a good place for my camera.

Looks nice.

Why is it that I find emt racks better looking than ones you would spend an arm and a leg for?

Anyways great job I like the design of this one.

Nice job. I like that design, not the whole roof, but enough to be useful. Any details? Is that 1/2" or 3/4" EMT? Did you mig weld? I don't see any EMT couplings?

If you are willing to share details, I'd be interested. Thanks!

Nice job on the home brew rack. I am going to use your design for the rack I plan to build. 2x on the question of how to do the hoops connect? I was also looking for the couplings.

No welds...I don't own a welder or have the know how to use one. It is all put together with sheet metal screws. There is a total of 4 couplings. one on each side, top and bottom rail. You can see them in one pic right below the 2nd hole from the back on the side piece. It is made out of 3/4 emt and measures 48" wide by 60" long at the base and the top I think I bent at 54" long but I don't remember for sure. The small vertical pieces are 1/8x3" steel cut to about 4.5" long and then screwed to the rails. I am very happy with how it came out and it seems plenty solid for what I am going to use it for. Hindsight, I would probably use 1" for the cross rails. I'll put it this way, I could put a spare on top and never have a doubt but its now strong enough to stand on the cross rails. (not that I plan on it....or putting the spare up there) It's just for tents and duffle bags and stuff like that. (enless someone want to sell me a hi-lift for cheap then that would go up there) and for anyone that thinks they can't do this, just go for it all it takes is a few drill bits, a drill, hack saw, vice, tape measure, emt bender (that you can buy for about $60. don't quote me on the price cuz I have owned mine for 8 years) the only other thing I used was a carbide hole saw for the sides. Pm me if anyone wants to know more.

Can you do it with joints, if you can't afford the bender?

I was just thinking that you're garage looks a lot like a York Creek garage, and then I saw you were in K-zoo. That explains it

I bought 8 elbows and flush-welded them to straight pieces for the corners on mine, after grinding and painting you can barely tell its not one piece.

I guess that you could use factory 90* and use something for an inner sleeve if you don't want to see the couplings. If you know any electricians you could borrow a bender...or maybe rent one.

Hey nukin, if you want to make a rack you could make a trip to kzoo and I could make the bends for you. It only takes about 5 minutes to bend.
