I used the same mounts on my rack.. they work well. Initially i used a bungie to the base back to the jack to hold it.. still make a rattle at times so i removed the cotterpin and base. It sits at the bottom of my toolbox in rig when i need it.

you might claer your garage with it mounted outside of the rack on the side, i use that option to make room for 2 tires and gas cans, [mine doesn't get great gas mileage ]

If you have access to a welder, weld longer wings on to a regular nut. Its much easier to turn a 2 or 3 inch homegrown wingnut than a small store bought one of the same thread size. i hope that makes sense?

Unfortunately since I dont have the luxury of a roof rack without a roof...
I mounted mine to the beast of a front bumper I happen to have...
And since my rig is parked in the garage and is not my DD, I dont need to worry about locking it down any. Future plans involve moving it and a few other tools to the rear in a custom cargo storage after the cage is installed.
but here are some iPhone pix i took just to show my bumper mounted high lift... and no that is not spotted paint, it is smelly river mud that i never cleaned off from a few weeks ago

I mounted my hi-lift to my surco roof rack by drilling a hole through each of the three flat panels that separate the upper section from the lower section and ran a 1/2 bolt through the holes. I lined up the holes in the jack with the bolts and slid it on. The portion of the jack that supports the Jeep when lifting (can't think of a better word for it now) was resting on the gutter mount to give it some support and I secured it with a wingnut on each bolt and a bike lock around the jack and rack. It never vibrated or caused any problems.
