was this easier for you necause your brother in law has a bunch of machines that can bend the metal and pipe easily? i want to chop a 4 door cherokee into basically a comanche, but i don't havr access to tools like that.

Did the same when I first found it lol but if you have a friend that knows how to weld they could probably show you just practice alittle before doing anything serious I recommend a mig or wire feed for 70% of all metal work and probaly about 100% of what you where doing unless you got into aluminum. But yea mig is the easiest and if a friend shows you you'll pick it up really fast

thanks. my dad knows how to weld, but he said it wont look pretty. id paint it so idc. he wants to buy a good welder anyway just as a toy. lol. i want a project car. definitely a jeep.

Well I knew that my transfer case was jacked up. I also needed a Front Passenger Window, Stereo, and a Rear Passenger window switch to complete everything that is needed mechanically. A buddy of mine is crushing a WJ tomorrow and I bought all of this stuff from him for $125.00. Awesome. I love deals. I'm still under $1,000. on this whole project so far. Rock On!

I have had two years of welding school and can MIG, TIG ARC, Gas weld and cut, Plasma cut, etc. But my Jeep is at my Bro-N-Law's shop and he is there daily and owns the custom shop and can custom build anything so I may do a little welding, cutting grinding or bending here and there but he is definitely the master mind behind this project. When I'm out there he tells me what to do and I do it, LOL! I definitely would not be able to do any of this without him. I took the angle grinder to the top and hacked it off but then called my Bro-N-Law and said HELP!!! LOL! I know in his hands this thing is going to be wicked.

This is exactly right on what he is telling you. And if you started playing with a MIG you would find that it is a lot of fun.

awesome. im for sure buying a project car, but funds are no where right now. it might not be til next summer. no where to work indoors around here.

I love my mig, just one pice of avice keep the wire spool in the house when you're not using it. That will help keep it from rusting. And when it is going to sit down for a bit pull the wireing out.

Along with this I also ended up with two driveshafts, passenger mirror, and a nice set of aftermarket rims. I'm tellin ya guys this is a definite budget build. The rims are just extras because right now I have soft 8s on there but these extra aluminium rims are Sharp. Thinks about putting a set of AT tires on them and just swap back and forth whenever I want.
