makes it way lighter... almost to light in a 2 door with 31's and no bumpers... my jeep would burn 1st 2nd and bark 3rd on dry pavement and 31's with the chopped top... wet pavement made it hard to speed up cause it only wanted to spin... with no doors on my jeep would haul butt!

hunter mine is a four door and i'm thinking of chopping it on pillar behind rear doors and just in front of rear hatch on that pillar making the two cuts match and cutting the rear hatch just below the tail lights so i can bring just my rear hatch forward leaving the bottom for a tail gate and just welding in a plate behind rear seats for the rear support. what do you think. hope fully i can get my cut's below the rear windows clean enough to make them inot locking boxs like the avalanche.

either way itll be lighter... 4 or 2 door... still cutting stuff out... hatches are frickin heavy... i was planning to cut my hatch at one point cause ive seen other people do it and it not look bad... but for now i use a gator net and its fine... lighter... eventually ill have cage back there to keep things strong...

well i know that it should lighten it up some but once i chop it it will give the room to install and build my roll cage for it since i'm going to strip out all the interior anyways. the only thing holding me back from chopping it now is the fact that it is my dd. and i dont have anything else to drive. when i do it i want to do it right.

If your gonna chop ur rig try to fing a camanche you can cutt the back off of and get the tail gate. Thats what i ended up doing cause it looked better and it was way easier. Once i welded the cab back on it mad the whole jeep alot more ridgid and it helps the unibody out a ton.

Did you just move the top part of the hatch back? Thats what i did. I am thinking i am just gonna get some fiberglass and finish it like that, but dont know how to secure it first. How is yours done?
