Since I'm installing a new axle I felt it need some protection and since I refuse to buy anything that I can build or do, I came up with this diff guard.

Well I officially have some dana 44 goodness tucked up under the the jeep now. I still need to plumb in some new hard brake lines on it and adjust the drums a little bit but at least the hard part is done!

Well I wrapped up the front axle swap finally. While I was at it I upgraded the tie rod to a zj tie rod set up. If anyone is thinking about doing this upgrade, do it, its a direct bolt in. I know if you search this forum the guys on here can give you the part numbers if you want to go all new but I pulled mine from a junkyard for 25 bucks. During this axle swap I went to a swap meet and scored a set of aftermarket lower links for 20 bucks. I also fabbed up another diff cover for the front.

I started the bumper build tonight. I am taking the original bumper I had made and narrowed it to fit.

Well I needed a bumper and I kept going back and forth between building a new one and reusing the one I built before. I decided to just reuse the one I had already than starting fresh. Of coarse it needed to be narrowed first and I tried to do that by sticking it in the chop saw. Unfortunately the ends of the bumper prevented that, so out came the torch and I loped off the ends. After that I threw her on the saw and made some clean cuts. Im going to work on it some more tonight and Ill post some pics of the finished job later.

After narrowing the bumper down to about 50 inches I needed to cut it to fit a little closer to the body. The bumper was originally built before I chopped the top and it was designed to clear the back hatch. So I went in and removed 1 1/4in off the tube that attaches to the body to bring it in tighter. Instead of giving the ends of the bumper an angled look I'm leaving it squared off and capping it.

Well folks we have a finished rear bumper. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the squared off ends but I am very happy how it turned out.
