actually i have been thinking about it, i was thinking after im done i could make some fiberglass molds of just the cowl. and making it a bolt on or rivet on type of deal. or i might even be able to even make some steel ones that are a cut and weld in deal. and if i want to go all out i might consider making a whole hood..but i gotta finish my hood first..should be done welding on monday, and clean it up with a little bondo on wed of next week.

most of the ford work vans you see have fiberglass hoods from factory. its a great material for hoods and deck lids/hatches but nothing youd want to protect you in crash like doors. is usually lighter if you buy it from a manufacturer, thats the whole point of using it.

When i did research on the fiberglass cowl hood for these Jeeps I found that they are the same weight as our stock steel hoods. Surprised the hell out of me

no. they soak heat, which means itll extract heat instead of holding it in. it wont be noticeable.
it would be fine to use fiberglass. dosent warp and dent and if you crack it its an easy fix since anyone can do it (glassing is easier than welding.)
