Default custom 44 FR JY build

can i pull a dana 44 front end w/ locking hubs from a narrow-track wagoneer and cut off the leaf perches + shock mounts, then weld on the 4-link, coil, and shock mounts from another dana 30 onto said axle? and make this monster fit under an xj? i cant seem to find any build threads for this. thanks.

yes, but dont re-use the mounts you cut off another D30. get new mounts, the stock ones are junk.

and your bolt pattern wont match anymore unless you also swap the rear axle.

http://www.pdkwheels.com/pdk_wheel_p...l_adapters.htm

would a couple of these work? i would use wheel backspacing (different front and rear to make up for the 4" gained from the 2" adapter plates) the one that adapts from 6 on 5.5 to 5 on 4.5

it could but those are some awful thick spacers. Not sure of the cost, but chevy, toyota, and early jeep all use 6X5.5. Also I wouldnt call a d44 a monster axle

You'll need a bracket kit.

No, you cannot use a 5 on 4.5 wheel on the Waggy 44, even with an adapter. The hole in the 5 on 4.5 wheel is too small for the D44 hub.
