pretty sure it would work. i used nylon cotton for mine.

I want to do the same but with CADPAT because my brother is in the Reserves.

Anybody seen digital snow camp? (White, gray, and black). I've only found the standard type rather than digital. I waited like six months and was going to finally just do that and went back to the fabric store and they were out of it!

all i did was clean off all of the old foam crap with a wire brush. then i got a quart of zissinger interior primer mixed in the closest color that matched the plastic trim. removed the visors, interior lights and rear speaker bezels. masked off the surrounding trim, and used a small roller and brush. 2 coats of paint did the trick... still has the fiberglass texture to it. looks good. and most importantly it doesnt smell... that paint hardly smells when wet out of the can...actually on a hot day it kinda has the new car smell to it..lol

Black Jo-Ann's headliner fabric vs. tan 1996 Cherokee interior.
Bought 2.75 yards of headliner fabric at Jo-Ann's Fabric. Could have gotten away with 2.5. For my particular '96, tan would have been ideal, but they were out of stock, so I chose black. Cost of the fabric was about $20 with the coupon applied.
Also used a Michael's Crafts coupon to get Krylon spray adhesive for about $7. Much cheaper than 3M, which has gotten really expensive. One can adequate.
Total project was about 3 hours. 40 minutes to pull the headliner out, a good hour to strip the old and glue the new, and an hour to get it back together.
Tools: #2 Phillips, small knife to pry forward trim caps, small torx bit for passenger grab handles, common screwdriver to pry keepers off dome light, vise grips or channel locks to screw off rear shoulder strap stays (substitute large torx bit, if you have it.)
Was surprised at how fragile the board was. The materiel is somewhat like attic or appliance insulation. Pulling off the fabric did cause some of the fiberglass to de-laminate. Did the best I could with it and got the job done.
The contrasty black/tan look works for me. Black will create less glare in the windshield/instruments, as it dampens light in the interior. Glad to have used foam-backed headliner fabric, as it is quieter.
