well getting them on aint that bad. them 2 doors wow HEAVY. id like to find some 20 pin connectors though. probably easy online just havent gotten around to doing it since its late in the year no taking them off soon. guess ill just mess with it spring time.

 

hahah great point just wait. lol! also thinking of makinf a swing arm for the spare tire to latch on back of our cherokees. think it might be cool to make those any ideas for hinges? wrangler hinge maybe?

 

here is the tube doors i made for my tj. i got the nylon straps from a local fabric store. they were stapled together in this pic but now i have them rivited to the doors so they look better.



were did you get your latches at and how much? i just made this latch setup works good but rattles .

they are off old stock wrangler doors. we just spot welded them to the doors

 

I have tossed up the tube door idea a lot and for hinges I would use the factory xj ones but replace those darn tork bolts with real bolts so I can use a ratcheting wrench or angled impact to swap from full doors to tube doors. When I do do it that how it'll be dune. Since my hinges are welded on on my 95. My 99s hinges look a little more excessable though.

really? haha damn and here i am splicing the two wires together everytime. do you think there is a plug for just the speaker wires? because everything else in the door is manual

 

Might sound kinda stupid but I was wondering how hard it is to take off the doors. I would really like to take them off and ride during the summer but I'm afraid I'll bite off more than I can chew. Is it basically like the wrangler doors but with a connector or is there a lot more to it?

 

I'd want quick connects for the doors both mechanical and electrical. Of course for the tube doors you could go minimalist. With tube doors there also should be a kit for the OEM doors allowing an easy swap when ever desired. (IE pull a pin or two and your good to go. No tools required.)

I like the nylon netting idea as well. It might be more comfortable, but would prove to be lighter.

If tube doors are done on a 4 door, I'd expect the front and rear door lines to line up. Going with round tubing would be preferred. Also having some sheet metal blending the body lines into the tube doors up front would be nice. I would say hydroform the tubes, but that would be $$$ setup.

this is how its done, (assuming you are pre 97' i forget to look) how hard it actually is to follow the instructions is up to you. for me personally it was a pain in the butt, but worth it


Edit: you have a 98' so it'll be a little bit different for you. just google it, i read something on it somewhere
