if i where to do it i would find a rear axle out of a front wheel drive car and use that as the trailer axel then beef it up a bit use the same hieght spring as in your jeep to level it then the rest is pretty simple

I've have plans to do this as well. I've already got a commanche bed. Just need to wait for an opening on the welder that I use. Its currently being used on a comando frame up build up. I plan on getting rid of the stock frame and building my own. I've been thinking of using air bags for the suspenion so I can adjust each side depending on the load carried.

Friend of mine took this idea, but we cut the top off, he made a lid for it and it works quite well. No lift, fit 33s by cutting the fenders and turning them under. He stuffed 3x3 square tube as far down the uniframe rails as he could and built the tounge from that. Tracks nice on the road, and on the trail. Kept the shocks and the non-C-clip 35, but pulled the ring gear and refilled the diff to keep the bearings lubed.

^^ I had thought about that after I read the response, then thought about how much work it would be to fab up a steering axle and suspension and crap. Would probably be easier to hack up a 2 door and move the rear axle forward.
