I dunno if this falls under fab but I figured it wasn't tech so my question is. I cut the rear quater panel out along the body line after removing the flare now i'm curious how would one go about connecting the seam between the quarter panel and the wheel well can metal that thin be welded or is ther another method.

 

take a picture please.... becasue if you did what it sounds like you did well were gonna want to know

 

Yes metal that thin can be welded. Here is what I did.
I think most don't cut that far up because you need to have the gap welded up. I also added 3 inches to the length of my wheel well.

 

you cut and fold it up.
please tell me you did not just cut it off at the body line........
here is what i did. you can see i screwed the lower part up to seal it all up.

 

lightfoot, you did that by accident i remember when you posted that lol. i think this guy did it by mistake as well. i want to see how far he cut apart the panels tho...

 

It was no accident for me. I did plan it. I also had a lot of rust to remove.

well someone on here accadently cut the pinch weld moe like 3 inchs up from the pinch weld lol and the metal seperated and he didnt know what to do, his looked an awfully lot like yours.

I am going to go to 33 for now. I only have 3" lift not sure if 35" would fit with out a little more lift.

Sorry not me. I cut out the first half of the innner fender well and then made my new weel well out of 12 ga steel plus added the 3 inches to make welll well longer so I could move axle back a little for more room.

Just take your time when you put it back in and it will go well. It would also be easier to put in 14 or 16 ga steel. It was a little rough to get the 12 ga in and pushed where I wanted it.

 

Lightfoot do you have a build thread that shows how you did those and how much you cut and and such
