little extra armor never hurt anyone. i did it for armor and something solid to weld the tube to with out having to run it back to the unibody (even though i still might)

I got it. But I made mine to be bolted to the jeep. How did you form the sides to the side of the jeep?

I just put some bracing in ther to strengthen it all up. They are pretty strong.

Here's my kid standing on one.

ive seen those and like them. I am doing a set for a buddy when ever he has the money for steel.

I just cut out of 10ga and sheetmetal screwed it on. spot welded it. then took it off. it does contort the fender a hair but dont really care. I have the rears cut but not pieced together yet. I got called back to work so i am tring to get my suspention done before i go back tuesday. These and getting painted will be set back a few weeks now.

Check out my build page for more cheap projects

I will check out your page. What did you cut your 10 gauge with? I skininned the top of my flares with 16 gauge and I used a jigsaw with a bimetal blade in it. It worked well but kills the blades fast.

plasma is the only way to go. you can get a cheap northern one for $560. or you can go chinese and pick one up even cheaper just do your research. They are worth every penny. they will make you a god of metal.

atleast 40 amp also

I saw your flares on jeep forum i think. I look there but dont contribute much.

Ah a plasma. That would be nice, maybe one day. I just got into all this stuff and really just started buying tools and all, so I gotta work with what I got for a while. I'm looking forward to your long arm build. That's one thing I will be doing soon. I'm reading all the posts I can find on them.

I also made some tube doors. They were actually the first thing I ever really fabbed. And they were made out of spare tire carriers. Cheap and easy. Here's a quick pick.

i dont actually own a plasma as of yet. will be my next purchase. I figure out everything i wanted to make, signed up at a comunity college night class for mig/plasma cutting, and cutt everything up there. Had to sit through 2 days of video and take 15min and prove to the instructor i could mig flat and vertical, then i got free reign to do what ever i wanted. best $200 i ever spent. he even offered me 2 jobs but they didnt pay enough

No bender. They were spare tire carriers off the rear of chevy s10 blazers. just had to clean them up a little and cut them to size. Had to make the hinge. But I have less then 100 bucks in them.
