You're welcome and good luck. Remember to flush the radiator and condensor fins in both directions with a low pressure hose while you have the fans out of there. This will help alot.

Hey man, I noticed you are in Arizona. There were guys that ran them in the desert somewhere out there (just not sure exact location) but they gave me the idea to try it. It doesn't get much hotter than the desert.

We had a few 102-105 days here a few weeks ago. I actually wanted to really test the set up. I knew it was going to be scorching for a few days so when I drove it I put the one fan in the "on" position way before it reached temp. It took almost 1/2 for the 2nd fan to come on to assist. It also had no problem cooling and shutting the fans off when not needed. I don't run the AC all the time so they were able to cycle as needed.

I have 4 1/2 inches of lift on 32's with stock gears and no hood vents (yet) and I have no problems. I'm very happy with it.

I won't consider this a write up but just a little bit of information on how I did my dual stock AC fan mod. I've have many people PM me and ask me about how I did it and I don't want to keep clogging up other peoples threads with my pictures. So I decided to post this thread and I can just send the link.

I'm sure there will be some to say that this won't work. Well, it works on mine so I'm passing along the information. I believe if you make sure the radiator and condenor fins are kept clean and not bent you won't restrict airflow and you'll get the proper cooling you need.

Ok let's get started....

I previously had a dual fan set up. My Stock AC fan with a Derale 16 inch 2600cfm fan.

Pulled the studs and installed bolts

Made fillers for better air flow

Installed

You didn't even know it was in there

This set up worked great when I had the TC drop and no SYE installed yet. Problem was, when I finally did the SYE and removed the TC drop it changed the angle of the engine and trans and the bolts for the fan clutch hit the fan casing. So I had to find an alternative. I always wondered about just running 2 stock AC fans. I searched and searched. Some said the CFM's were too low and a few desert runners said they used them no problem. So I decided to give it a shot.

Like I said earlier, my pics were taken after I did this not during so I won't have all installation pics available but I think you'll get it.

Recently I installed a new radiator in my friends XJ. I held on to the old one for measurements because I knew I had to do something with mine. I figured that one was already out and it would be easier to come up with something. I test fitted a new stock AC fan that I purchased against the old radiator and took measurements. I kept the original AC fan in it's stock place and I can mount the new one right next to it with a little brainstorming.

Here is a pic of the new radiator sitting in the Jeep.

very cleen instal

No I didn't. It would be a good idea, but mine runs pretty cool anyway. My second fan is on a toggle and the only time I use it is when creeping through the woods.

Yeah, the toggle to relay is what I did as well. And I always run 1 fan while trail riding. Especially since I don't have my trans cooler in yet.

Yeah, you should see an improvement if you block the open (non shrouded) areas of the radiator. This way you're not pulling hot air and recirculating it and pulling air directly across the fins of the rad and condensors. Glad to hear another success story.

Can you tell me the part number of the 16" Derale Fan you used? I would like to do that set-up and can't find it on their site. Thanks!

I don't have a part number from Derale. I ordered this off of ebay a while back. I don't have the original box anymore but I remember it being slightly weird that it had no labeling on it except for FF. I later found out that it was through FF Dynamics and my mistake on the fan size. I original stated it was a 16 inch when in fact is was a 14 inch. I still have some of the paperwork and it lists FFD14. I went back to try to locate the exact fan and I can't find it.

Now remember, you can only use this fan if you are doing the transfer case drop. If you eliminate it, the bolt/studs from the fan clutch pulley will hit the fan casing and it will be no good to you. This is why I converted to the dual stock AC fans. The stock fan pulls more air anyway IMO.

The pictures look like the stock fan is actually deeper. The shroud itself is slightly deeper, but the way the fan is notched out gives the entire assembly room to clear the fan clutch bolts. Also, the stock AC fan tucks in tighter when mounted giving more clearance.

I used the same stock belt. You don't need to change the size because you are still using all the same pulleys. I removed the studs and installed bolts for the fan clutch pulley. You'll even have the same belt route as well.

i also tried to set dual electric fans but when i checked on ebay they sell a radiator with 3 10" fans so i decided to buy at least 2 for a start but when measure them on the radiator i noticed that there is only space for 2 of them, so tried to put them as far as possible as the pictures show , i have step on full gas on highway a few times and some hills , the temperature never reaches half but also never gets as low as the thermostat needs to switch them off , so i think will better get bigger fans or whatever needed!!
i just could use some help on how big do i need to buy a fan so it can pull enough air from the rad!!
