Dual Stock AC Fans in XJ

I finally had the time to do my electric fan swap. I ended up using two 92 style straight blade fans mainly because 1) everything I could find says a straight blade fan will move more air than a curved blade fan 2) I already had one so I would only need too buy a second one, which I picked up at the junkyard.

Problem #1: once I installed it I found out it was junk and I needed to finish the job right away so I bought a brand new one.
Problem #2: the new aftermarket fan was thicker than the OEM fan so I had to put the new fan on the drivers side and the OEM fan on the passengers side. Not a big deal but I was hoping my new fan would be my full time fan since the OEM has 185k miles of use. But, the OEM will still probably last longer than the new Chinese made one. It's a very tight fit and if this OEM one goes out I'll either have to pick up a junkyard OEM fan or an SPAL or something similar.

As far as cooling goes I'm happy so far, but it's 40deg or colder here right now. I did let it idle for about 10mins and it never got near 210 with the thermostatic control set on it's lowest turn on point, which I believe is 175deg.

why do you need to put bolts back in after you take the fan and the fan clutch off? is it a balance thing ?

You have to take studs out and replace them with bolts to hold the pulley onto the hub. Unless you remove the pulley altogether and run a different belt and belt routing. Which was more than I wanted too mess with. It was much easier this way.

i also run 2 stock fans and i only have to one of them all the time even when im offroading...i rarely have to turn on the second one because one is enough to keep it cool

i already did the 3 fans setup and also did the dual scoops , still have not noticed the great difference yet cause im having trouble with one of my hoses that keeps dripping coolant so untill i change it and spend a few days without having to add water wont be sure, this is the way it looks !!

thats the same mood as i did , the only thing is that i bluilt a mount for the fans instead of mounting them right on the radiator and the fans cost about 26us each , and that includes the radiator made in aluminium thats why its expensive..

ive read nothing but wonderful things on the 3 fan conversion but id like to use my spare fan and see how well it works like the thread shows. it saves money... but id get that conversion when i get moneys to throw around on other mods.

So, 16" does fit. Awesome!

Why did you remove the pulley? Would it have fit with it on?

If not, did you need a smaller belt? If so, what part # or size?

What fans did you buy that only cost 26.00 US? The ones I've been looking at are $70.00 at Summit But they move 2,350cfm ea too.

Is your shroud just flat aluminum?

From radiator to pulley is 3.5" for me since I have a 3 row radiator.

This was all I found with the highest CFM
