Im pretty sure the weight shouldn't be a problem if its distributed to the right places.. I really like the idea with the wingnut and adjustable footings on the part that extends to the ground I will more than likely try to implement it in the design. Thanks for all the interest guys hopefully I can get you all some progress up here soon.

Those are some awesome links thanks alot they gave me some good ideas. I didnt even really think about doing sliders or anything like that. The tent cot looks like a cost effective option also but I think it will be fun to fab one.
The snow is finally melted and tax return is in pocket. Time to get this thing rolling expect some pictures after the weekend

here is another idea someone had, one of the coolest things ive ever seen... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/j...thread-665127/
Personally I am welding in a full cage and exo this summer and then going to hang a custom hammock from the front hoop to the rear inside my rig.. may not be the most luxurious but it will definitely keep me dry and I can still have a nice roof rack to hold all my stuff

Keep yourself off the rocks on the ground and the rain and not to mention the bonding you get to do with your jeep

Ok the tentokee is back under construction again. New plan now i will have some drawings up later. I am buying a double tent cot from cabela's and making it so it folds and stays on the roof during travel. Also adding a folding ladder to the side and a canope like in earlier pictures.

thats deff an awesome start. all ya really gotta figure out is connecting it to the roof withoup collapsing in, how to get up and down ( but you already have that pretty figured out) and how to cover it so it dosent get messed up by branches and coverd in rain/mud

Im thinking I wont have a choice but to take it off whatever mounts and collapse it when its time to move. I was going to make the ladder fold over top of the roof and tent cot to keep it secure. And have a locking mechanism to keep it down.
