Fender cut with Original Flare replacement

Default Fender cut with Original Flare replacement

Hey guys just thought Id share this since Ive seen one other guy do it but no write up. Today I cut my front fenders and Im gonna put my stock fender flares back on it. I saw where A guy drilled holes in his flares every 4 inches like bushwackers and it looked good. So Im gonna do it and write it up. Here are the before and after pictures of my work today...

Tomorrow im gonna drill the holes in my flares and write up the steps to this.

did you mess up posting pics or something cuz the before and after look identical as far as how they are cut.
as far as your idea im interested because iv been thinking of doing this just havnt gotten around to it.

the top 2 photos are before, the last 2 photos are after. he just placed the labels on the bottom of the photos instead of the top.

he took the original flares, removed them, cut the fenders and is reattaching the original flares with bolts.


I am interested to see how it turns out!

yeah sorry about the photo confusion lol I wanted to show both driver side and passenger side on both stock and cut parts. I actually ended up cutting about 4-5 inches off. I didnt want to go that far but once you start its like why not lol it makes my 31s look tiny. cant wait to cut the rear and get 33s. yeah my dad thinks im crazy but im gonna make this happen.

make sure to cut n fold the pinch weld in the wheel well or you will slice your tires up

Im actually gonna cut higher than the pinch weld and just weld some metal over the gap. I saw a write up on it and I liked it.

Default if it aint one thing its another

so i woke up early to work on my jeep before work and its pouring awesome. i can deal with that. but then it stops and i decide to walk outside to work on her and i witness this happen.....





And the culprit is this guy sittin 5 feet away from my jeep...



Luckily its only $200 for a replacement windshield installed tomorrow but I still am gonna go work on my jeep ill post pics of the progress later tonight.

Can't wait to see this, as I have been thinking of doing a similar plan of attack on my 98', to at least hold me over until I get a bit more money for better flares... if needed after this mod...

yeah minor set back but luckily I have an appointment with a local shop thatll do it for 150. i drilled the holes for the screws to go into today. i just need to figure out a way to countersink the screws or something. find a way to make it more asthetically pleasing. Ill figure it out soon enough.

how'd you drill the holes in the flare? what about self tappers to fasten it then you could see the bolt heads

My original plan was to counter sink the screws but theres not enough material there to do it so I got some countersink washers from lowes and some screws and try it that way. I actually took my dremel and I have a drill press attachment and drilled little holes in it. Then im gonna put the screws and washers in it and take pictures and show yall

So i had the holes drilled in the fender with a dremel



but the whole countersink washer idea turned out to be stupid loking. Dads idea but norally we argue and he ends up being right (typical father son relationship lol) so I tried it but it was ugly. So I saw this on the back side of the fender...



So I firgued I could drill holes big enough for the screw to be hidden and then glue a piece of sheet metal to that lip so the screw has something to hold and that way itll actually be countersunk. Im gonna work on that today/tonight after work. what do yall think?
