Passing inspection with something doesn't mean you can't get a ticket for it - you should know that. And just because you haven't, doesn't mean you can't or won't. My friend passed inspection with her 2 door Firebird with a mild tint on the side windows (she moved from Kansas where she bought the car like that). Got a ticket at night in Atlantic City for tinted front windows. I was in the passenger seat when it happened.
Wasn't saying just because I passed I won't get a ticket. I was saying they even had time to stop and look at every part of the Jeep and didn't catch it.

We have the same law about having flares that fully cover the tire up here in saskatoon,Canada. out here they only give you a ticket if your being an *** or if they are just a hard *** cop, or if you are in front of them on a back road and send a 7 foot roost over ther hood.

well today I cut the rear fenders and its not as big as a gap as I thought there would be from the inner and outer fenders seperating. I need to weld the gap closed then put the stock flares back on. Ill post some pics tonight of the rear cut so far.

I used Krylon Fusion to paint my stock flares... and as long as you at least clean them decently first it stuck quite nicely and hasn't chipped or faded yet..

...i got this <91> jeep a couple years ago, chopped the floor out, ran out of time and money <and will> and parked it in a grasses feild for a couple years. its got almost 500km on i and even no the frames rotted clean threw on one side it still runs and drives good <needs breaks>. im getting a new <93> jeep. witch inspired me to come on here an learn something about it. but after seeing the crap you dudes saved, im gunna fix the old one up for offroad. cutting the fenders back will remove most of the rust from them, thus extending their lives.
both XJ's have inline six high output, and leaf springs with the tow package.
i've been readin this site for a couple weeks now, i aint got much to say caue you dudes pretty much already answered any newbie questions i might have. just thought i'd take this oppertunity to introduce my self, and say thanks.
Peace.

thanks man. <i found some 2x6 square tubing, old mobil trailor frame>
i was just wondering, are you gunna cut the rear fenders, and hang part of them off the door? i was looking at my rusty metal <jeep> and when i cut the fenders back i aint gunna have enuff room to mount the fender back infront of the wheel well. <where they were, if you know what i mean>.
edit: since i rote this i've seen pic's, on this site, with that very thing done. flares choped and a peace mounted on the door. looks good to.
anyone know of a stock fender flare, that is bigger then stock XJ flares, that could be modded to work? ie: whats got fender flares on it? not much eh. <or even a rig with big metal flares, the could be scalvaged>

Yeah Im gonna put some of my flares on my rear door. Im posting pics right now for the rear fender cut. Ill post the pics when I put the flares on too.
The only flares bigger than stock flares that I personally know of are bushwackers or anything else aftermarket. You can put TJ flares on an XJ but there not much bigger just a different fender cut for more room.
