haha. good. fender flare laws are retarded. I see no useful purpose for having them. if someone knows of a good reason to have flares on the road...please speak up

How about this?I drive down a gravel road and my big *** mud terrains pick up a bunch of rocks that get stuck between the treads, then when I get on the highway and get up to highway speed and your driving behind me those rocks start flying out and bust your wind shield, now do they have a purpose?they also serve to protect your own vehicle

I'll second that ... seen it happen, but the windshield was only cracked. Had to be replaced anyway. I've also had my own XJ throw mud all over the place after wheeling ('cause I take the flaps off when wheeling to prevent them being ripped off).

***It looks like a piece. There are lines, past which a vehicle is better off parted out or in the jy. that thing looks to be wayyyy past the line.***

its not wayyy past its prime, just a little ruff arond the edges, it runs good. if i do what a want with it, it probably wont look much like a jeep anymore. but you may be right, time will tell. i'll get a bit more out of it anyway.

i play guitar too, heavy metal.

lol at the sign, waters wet too you know, they should have mentioned that.

The only flares bigger than stock flares that I personally know of are bushwackers or anything else aftermarket. You can put TJ flares on an XJ but there not much bigger just a different fender cut for more room.
Correction: TJ flares are bigger than XJ flares, and they are wider as well. You won't be able to make them fit on an XJ unless you cut your fenders or take a chunk out of the flares to make them smaller. TJ Sahara flares are an additional 1" wider than regular TJ flares. I have TJ flares on my Cherokee & I had to cut a chunk out of the ones I put on the rear about 4 to 5" to make them fit even after chopping the fenders. My front fenders are cut pretty deep to run the other set (I used 2 sets of rear TJ flares).

if you dont have to weld those pinch seams, use some expendable foam to fill it in,,, You don't want any water and mud getting into the jeep. You will most likely start having electrical problems

!!! Wow. Someone please enlighten me. I'm no expert, but isn't this very bad advice? Won't this eventually be a problem when the Jeep flexes offroad?

Yeah I'll agree with that being awful advice!! The pinch weld is where the body joins together. May as well just start over if it's not filled in. The foam will provide no rigid support for the body. Just the same as when the hatch is off the rear the body can flex because the rear lift gate provides lateral support to the rest of the rig. Try flexing on a curb with your hatch open and trying closing it. More than likely it won't line up properly. This is why guys plate their unibodies. More strength on the unibody means less flexing of the other parts of the body. Cutting past the pinch weld is ok as long as it is properly joined together with strong enough materials (a.k.a not aerosol foam).
