to figure out the cubic ft is inside Length x Width x Height/1728 and 1/2 in will eventually blow apart should have used 3/4 but you got the right type of wood mdf is the best it is more dence than partical board (LOOKS GOOD)

When I rebuild it, ill go with 3/4". Iv nvr build a sub box before so it was all basically guessing. Would there be any sound difference in using 3/4 compared to 1/2?

There can be a big difference in sound by using thicker mdf. It'll help keep the box from flexing and resonating.

Hmm. Maybe ill give it another go and make a new one, the mdf board is pretty cheap, being 8$ for a 2'x4',sheet

Oak?

And density is a dependant, what company are you buying from. And medium density fiber board is not that dense. If you want the most dense/resistant to flexing, oak ply.

Lol your probably right but about the oak ply that would look sweet stained and finished but at that point I'd build a fiberglass box. It would be a heck of a lot lighter and take up less room and be just as strong and you could finish it to look just like the interior. MDF is pretty much the standard material for sub boxes. Another thing you can do is brace the interior of the box. But you have to take the bracing material into account when calculating volume.

well it looks like he only has one sub so it really dont matter aslong as he is happy with it.. its not like he is competing in the DB DRAG or NSPL which i broke a world record in 162.5 DB with one 15inch MTX and 15 D1500 amps but any way he did good for his first box

hey man I love that box. what kind of subs and amp do you have? I have a pair of T3 t.600s that I love but I deff don't have much room in the back. here's a pic of my sub box with the rack I made as a workbench. Did you buy the box or build it? I'd be interested in a pic of the back side of your box.

The pic doesn't do it justice. It looks much nicer in person

Thanks man, right now theres a crappy 10" mtx blue thunder hookd up to a crappy amp. I plan on upgrading to a 10" kicker comp and alpine amp. Ill try to take a pic of the back side today. And yea I made it, was my first time attempting one so its not the cleanest looking but its 100% sealed and im not sure on the cubic volume but I think its plenty for a 10"

Yeah it looks great! lol my first sub box looked terrible compared to yours. hey I'd recommend getting a KAC 9105D amp. I've had two and you can't beat it for the money. anxious to see more pics of that box!
