Mdf sheets are strong but heavy I plan on doing this with 2x4s and 1/2"mdf. And it is going to be a drawer instead of a lift up cause if I have stuff on it, it would be a pain to move

So I am going to be building a false floor in the back of my jeep on Thursday and I did a cardboard mockup today and wanted to get your opinion on it. It will have 6 inches of storage space underneath and I will put the spare under there along with other random items. I also plan on building some kind of rack to hold the front tire to my bikes (as you can see in the first pic). After it's finished I plan on bed lining it that way it's water proof. I will post pics of the finished product, I just want to know what ya think and if ya have any recommendations or ideas to ad to it.

I never thought of using bed liner. Maybe if you put a layer of some other paint on it first it will stick better. I was thinking about putting diamond plate down on mine are some point but that's a bit too pricey for me at the moment lol. Post pics when you have it all done and when you have it painted up

depending on how much you need you can even get some at the jy (scrap metal recycle place)for inexpensive, if your not worried about pretty clean unscratched super shiny surface, since it will just get scratched anyways...
for my car's floor board's, i picked up a 6x3 for 25 (already scratched) so i went with the scratched look and cut it some more, with a drill scratch pad for removing paint, so it looks more like it was meant to be that way, rather than its "just a used piece"

I said that too.. then I needed the spare and the damn thing let out all its air as soon as the XJ put its weight on it. I was so pissed you have no idea.
