Crow Bar and a Sledge hammer. Most useful tools for this job.

Getting the rest of the floor out.

What was left from the sheet when it finally came out.

Cleaning up more rust

As it sits currently.

I'm going out of town this weekend so I'm not going to make anymore progress til next week but then I will start cutting floor pieces and dropping them in. Also need to put in my supports for the cage while I have access to the frame. More pics coming soon.

I'm doing custom storage boxes and cage work while I have it apart. So im using steel so I can weld and build it up. Plus I have most of the metal already anyway.

I really hope you drop your gas tank before you start welding........watched a coworker years ago torch a '81 BMW 320i welding around the tank. Welding slag burned through the rubber fuel line. He was inside the car and the fire was underneath. By the time he noticed it, the FD had to be called. (I was in the spray booth painting a '79 Monte Carlo white, started getting soot on the car, when I stepped out, the bottom of the Bimmer was in flames)

Its coming out. I didn't even grind around the tank. Just hammer and crow bar. I'm trying to run the thing for a few more days to get the gas lower before I drop it.

Default bedliner

I need some bedliner/undercoat recommendations for those of you that have done this before. I was looking at the Plasti-Kote one gallon liner for inside since its only 50 bucks. I know its a little cheaper then the big name stuff but at that price i can do 4-6 coats and have more protection/heat resistance for less cost.

Also, looking at the duplicolor spray on underneath to go over the seam sealer and cover everything up. Has anyone tried that stuff yet?

Steel is heavier but I like the idea of welding onto it and adding.

X2! I hear people all the time whine about not being able to weld. Well.....go out and buy a welder and (wait for it...) WELD!!

Will the welds be ugly? Probably. Will it work? Definitely. Those new floor pans will work just fine!

My passenger side floor pan in the rear is shot. All the other ones seem to be fine. I'm a stick welder guy, but I might try out one of those little migs for Jeep stuff. I need a new toy....uh...hem....I mean, TOOL!!

Props for diving right in and doing something new and not worrying about not being able to do it!! Nice job!

This is how we learn. By doing and making mistakes. As long as you're happy with the end results then no worries and enjoy! Personally good job man!

You will be happy picking up one of those migs. I know a lot of people on here say not to get the harbor freight ones but I have had zero problems with it. It welds and I can plug it into 120v. Thats all needed. I played with some scrap last night and started getting some pretty solid beads.

Made a little progress this weekend. I didn't have a ton of free time but I was able to get a floor piece cut and get the first frame for the storage area build too. I also got my frame inserts for the rear bumper cut this weekend but I don't have pictures of that yet so Ill post those later today.

Test fit

frame for the storage box sitting in place.

Another view of the frame.

sitting in place. one more piece to be cut and then I can start welding.

It's coming along

Don't worry too much about getting the welds perfect. Just make sure you use seam sealer and coat your work and it will be just fine

Finally got a chance to make some progress on the floor of my jeep. I have been busy wheeling every weekend and working/spending time with the family during the week so i haven't done much.
