The most notable difference was beam width and also distance. The width is about 2x wider than what a Mini D2S has. Distance is definitely a lot farther too.
Also, the foreground lighting is dispersed more evenly.
You'll never be able to get the same performance from a smaller projector as you would a larger one. The reflector bowl on the Morimoto mini is tons smaller than the FXR's and that automatically goes into account with light distribution.

I've done about 20 retrofits and the FXR is definitely one of my favorites. It takes a lot more skill, time, and patience to build. If you're up for it, I'd give it a try. You'll be more than happy with their performance

So I want to tackle this project since it looks fun and a very nice outcome and because I recently bought a HID kit and want to use it properly.
I was wondering how the overall process is. Is it just cutting the housing, cutting the holes for the projector, trimming the shroud and projectors (is sanding the shroud necessary?), then attaching everything and using JB Weld (or can I use a fiberglass kit from the auto shop?), then cut the hole in the XJ and wire it up?
