Default Highschool bumper build

so this is my first post...Im a junior in highschool with not much cash, but i managed to get a 1992 xj 4x4 sport 5 speed. i bought it with 132k on it and got it for $ 1300 licensed and registered. pretty much stock except for a steering stabilizer and the 30" tires, and some small foggers. today my dad and I started to build my rear bumper. my first time using a torch to cut steel, but i think i did decent.

Just make sure if your ever gonna do any recovery with it you extend it past those stock mounts! If you want I can hook you up with pics and stuff of all the ways people have done this. I'v been doin my research for a rear bumper build ill be doing here in a little while. Can't wait to see what direction you're takin this thing! Tube plate what?

As in using the stock eight bolt holes that point front to back?

Yeah you can tie it in from those with a drop bracket thingy that goes back to the factory hitch mounts. This will require nut strips if you don't have a hitch but they are pretty easy to make. Ill put up a picture of what I'm talking about later cause I'm on my phone right now

ok that would be great. i couldn't get any work done on it today because i had to help a friend change a wheel bearing in his car. it ended up taking 6 hrs haha but we got it. tomorow i plan on making the rest of the mounts and tacking the whole thing together.

That ship has long since sailed. To the op, what I think I'm gonna do is take a piece of 1x3 solid stock and open the unibody rail behind the factory mounts drill and tap holes in it and use the factory hitch holes and put d rings on that and build the tube around it so it will be pulling directly on the u.b.
