THE WINCH FITS

 

 

Bumpers done and ready for paint. I got a little carried away with the rattle can....

 

Looks good. I've been planing to build one.

The one issue I've come across is how do you mount the fairlead to the face of the bumper then mount the winch to the back side of the same piece of steel? Idk if your winch is made differently but if I use a standard bolt to hold the fairlead on it will be in the way of the feet on the winch. Does that make sense? The head of the fairlead bolts will be in the way of mounting the winch flat...

I see that you've built your bumper the same way I have planned. What did you do to overcome that? I don't see any pictures with the fairlead and the winch mounted at the same time.

I have the fairlead holes drilled and tapped, I then use a few washers to space the head of the bolt out and use locktite to keep it from backing out.

 

looks great!!but you will probably bust the corners of your nose up.... the bumper doesn't seem to cover them

 

i have the same plan for my hood, just gonna add a little something different, but i like how it turned out so now i'm even more excited to do it

 

I like it it! good approach angle and the winch is hidden out of the way. I do have a question about the lever, is it hard to reach or easily accessable?

 

Looking pretty good, try turning your heat and wire speed up a little bit and bumping your travel speed when welding, should help the beads flush into the base metal a little bit better.

They look okay, definitely getting penetration but the consistency isn't what it could be.

That all comes with practice though.

 

Thats one thing Im a little worried about. They're already dented and scratched up so if they take a hit its not that big of a deal. They stack out about a 1/2".

 

I clocked the handle down, so its easy to get to.

 

Will do, thanks for the advice. On flat stuff Im pretty good, but when it comes to tube its hard to stay consistent the whole way around.
