I just put wing nuts on mine...works good

Way to go, thats some serious budget minded thinking right there. i would probally tack the lower bolt to the axle or replace it with a pin and weld the pin to the axle. but im just paranoid like that. Rock on

see i have a newer xj..its a 2001 and with the newer ones that bottom bolt is serrated and pressed into the bracket and they only way to really get it out is with a puller so i dont really have to worry about it. I am thinking of doing a clevis pin or something like that for the rear sway

Yea your right but over time the constant forces of the up and down movement of the bolt will cause the splines to wear out and you will end up with slop and a noise on turns. Normally in its stock form this would almost never happen because the nut that holds the link on keeps the splines engaged and tight against the steel plate. When you delete the stock nut in favor for a pin you no longer have the clamping force needed to keep the splines in the steel plate. The clamping force from the nut eliminates movement. The pin however will not. It will not show movement today or next week but it will show itself after a couple thousand miles or so of daily driving. Its like taking a rusted pin out of a hitch. You cant pull it straight out but if you wiggle it and introduce water/ or other liquid it will come out. this is why im paranoid.

yeah i see what you are saying...but still im not really worried about it because i have beat on it with a 10lb hammer and it didnt move. And i have extended links so it has less stress on it.
