thank you captain obvious, yes it did occur to me that the can will be coming off when i open the hatch. i'll just unstrap it when i want it off. my shocks can barely hold up the hatch as it is ... hmm maybe i should come up with a 'gas can ejecto' button.

Looks good ! But just outta curiosity, is it legal? I mean, if ya got hit in the rear (Hope ya don't) I would think it could cause some major trouble. But that's just the 'Dad' in me.....

I guess if I did something like that I'd have to go with the 'Shmo' route....sorry bud, but it DOES look good!

nah i dont have a lock on it yet. i'm still trying to find a good sturdy strap to use that has a way to tighten and lock it. i want it free too.
and the whole legal comment, i know quadratec sells a gas can mount that hooks up directly to those rear tire mounts leaving the gas can hangin' out the back... but then again maybe those are meant just for offroadn'

i think ima have to look into it. i can't afford any tickets.

I had this exact idea last night before searching it on here. I was thinking, if the can is empty most of the time its a non issue. My hatch props could easily hold an empty can up there. So I could have the look when I want and the function when I need. I never wheel anywhere that I even come close to needing extra fuel though...so my GF is giving me **** for going to a bunch of trouble to be a 'poser.' How badly does it rattle?

If you fill it there is no chance the props will hold it is there?
