And besides...it's just a hood. It provides no structural integrity to the vehicle. In the event of a front end collision that thing is crushed like a run can anyway.
As long as the vent is installed with good craftsmanship I don't see any problem cutting away the center "support" bean. Many hood lack this support and hold up just fine.

Just did a quick search and I couldn't find any first generation hmmwv hood vents. Only the H2and H3 vents. Unless I can get my hands on one for next to nothing I'm not buying an H2 vent for $109 at the cheapest lol.

Ok, sooo in another forum... I wont say which lol, but there is a guy doing these hood vents for another type of jeep, I wont say which one cuz I dont wanna be "wrong". He does a pretty dang good job! He does them for like under $100.

Looks good. But there is no reason to worry about cutting in to the hood. It has rolled edges all around and "support" bends. Obviously if you're going to remove a rather large portion then some bracing would def be a good idea.
I've got some plans up my sleeves when I put vents in my hood you guys are going to s**t when you see what I come up with!!
