It's still easier to unscrew and drop it(let it hang) I mean when you spend as much time filling these cars up make it as easy and fail proof as possible.
It's a great mod & I highly doubt it's hollow there. Even though they made these same gas caps for 30+ years. I highly doubt a company would spend the time nor man power to revise & design a mold to hollow out such a miniscule amount of plastic.

^^this reminds me of wensday, when a buddy and i were driving back from college and had new Chevy Traverse ahead of us the had the door open and the cap off just flapping in the wind for about 30 miles at least lol

and to OP of the subject when you go to put the full length dog tag chain on, put a couple dabs of gorilla glue on the chain around the hole in cap... that glue expands a bit when it drys and will seal the hole if you're that worried...

after i finished my tailpipe i decided to redo my speakers with speakers from my sound system i bought years ago. not fantastic but its gonna be a little better. I'm working on the speaker bar at the moment. it'll be a few days till its back in and working. but i think itll be well worth the efforts i plan on spray painting the speaker bar with a nice gloss and make it look really sharp. ill post pics when its finished
