Personally, I wouldn't want anything blocking my view. Trails around here can get pretty technical, requiring backing up / do-overs....

I'd prefer the tire more towards the passenger side to offset some of the weight of the driver. My XJ leans a tad bit towards the driver-side since I used to keep a full sized spare where the doughnut was plus my weight.

if he did that with his design, you wouldnt be able to open the hatch. On a full bumper you can do that no problem, but with that Tailbone system he makes, the mounting point has to be too far inboard on the bumper to get that much swing away. not to mention if you are running a wide tire and not spacing it way off the mount, it would hit the hatch as you tried to swing the carrier out.

I have one rear cap w a slice in it. While looking at Quadratechs catalog i see rear pass side bumper caps for my year XJ for 12.99 ea. Has anyone used these, and do they suck or what? Basically are they different enough that if i replace the pass side i should do drivers side so they match? im really only concerned about the shape of them, because I am going to repaint all my trim anyways. If anyone has any insight into these "too cheap to be true" caps let me know please. Thanks
