no, they bolt in under the bumper brackets. the brackets move out only 1/4in per side. They also double as a brace for the steering box

I'm actually think about producing more sets of these to sale. May start a group buy thread, see if I can get enough interest.

Ah gotcha, now I just need to find a way to make a rear set that allows me to keep my tie carrier. I can definatley see these as being marketable to people who don't want or can't afford a large bumper with em.

How did you mount the stock bumper? I have the TnT 3/16" outer steering brace, and I can't reinstall my factory bumper/factory tow hooks unless I remove the outer brace?

That because you have factory tow hooks. With this it serves tow hook & steering brace in one so it does not offset the brackets more than a 1/4in which allows rooms for stock bumper mounts.

BTW next mod Im looking to do is reinforce stock bumper from behind & stronger mounts

Scary.

The least you could do is add a huge fische plate down the side of that thing.

what it looks like to me is...the plate has the tab cut out with it and the welds your seeing is two more tabs to make them more beefy...just a thought

If that is the case then they're fine.

If that was originally 3 seperate plates then that's dangerous. I'd like the see the original plate before any welding.

you guys are way off lol

using 3/16" plate as the tie in, and assuming 3 layers of 3/16" plate, welded both sides with a 3/16" fillet weld, you're looking at a weld capacity of over 12,000 lb loaded perpendicular to the weld line, and that's being conservative. I assure you the D-rings and his strap are weaker than that and will break first.

I agree IF that's 3 layers of 3/16ths (The center layer being part of the bumper bracket). It certainly doesn't look like 3 layers of 3/16. It looks like (1) standard 3/16 bumper bracket with (2) 1/4" d-ring tabs butt welded to the end of it.

I've been known to make a mistake in the past... I could be wrong.

Again, I'd like to see it before welding.
