im sure if the vac system is kept up its fine...but a cable actuated set-up has got to be trouble free...doesnt it?
those $180 kits ive seen on feebay look like the manufacturer must making about $170 in profit....
why not just lock it in permanently? i did that back when i was running a disco 30 took about 20 min. and i never had to worry about it.

all that you need to do is take it apart, line it up to where the collar is locked in then put spacers on each side of the fork and put it back together.

kind of, they are a non disco axle, and when i locked mine it was a DD. it don't hurt anything at all.

did that too, it was cheap and almost easy, shaving down the cast so the right seal can fit in was time consuming but it worked, i found the easiest was to swap in a non disco housing.

Thats not a CAI. Its the same warm-air intake as the stock airbox but with a cotton cone filter in place of the air-box.

a True CAI would be isolated from the heat of the engine bay and suck its air from the cooler outside air.

Corrugated plastic would be best. Plastic has a low thermal conductivity and the corrugation adds to that. Not only would it need a heat shield but it'd also need to be completely insulated from the engine bay and have a source of fresh air from outside the engine bay to truly be a CAI>
