You could do that with nightshade, just tape off the circles...

This way, you could keep it tight, be able to use the wipers, and keep the law off of you. If needed for bustin' through the brush, you could add a bolt on bar in the middle to protect the windshield. Remove it for the road.

It will still be my dd. We made the halo and the center bar far enough away from the windshield so it can be replaced at some point. If you keep it tight to the window and gusset the corners no more windshield replacement. The center bar isn't for brush pushing its for strength when she is on her roof!!

I don't know about CO, but VA and PA you're not allowed to have anything "obstructing" your view... it's gotten so bad, that cops have actually started writing tickets for GPS's in the window!

Yeah I like em too haha. They're sturdy as hell and that's nice since my buddy shattered my tail light off road haha! They would be real easy to make for a 1st gen xj. A bit harder for 97+

THOR makes one that goes to the pass side over the valve cover. would work perfect for abs owners. i would just copy that.

here is a link to the install http://www.thor4x4.com/THOR%20CI%20installation.pdf
