Engineer here too. With your "knowledge" you should know that a latch on the front and two bolts in the rear were never intend to withstand much force. Hoods are extremely week in general, which is why it doesnt take much to dent them. Even with the weaker bolts I would guess the sheet metal hood is still the weakest link in the system.
Have you ever even seen the crumple zone of a frame? There are ripples and varying sizes to create failure points, and control the forces induced, hoods have none of these. Just compare the size and thickness of the frame to the hood, its goin to do nothing for structure.

Yes it is a satellite dish arm. (Thanks to a link I found in a forum)
I just modified this mesh type tray I found at a store originaly 14" and made it work for my 17" laptop.

you know the whole hood mod is so dumb it was on my jeep when i bought it. really it looks stupid like the hood is messed up and really what does it accomplish (NOTHING)it looks 100%better with it unmodded so take it as it is just dumb

Hey guys just wanted to show ya the outlets i dropped in my dash. Did the mod before i signed up for cherokee forum so i missed some of the pics during the build but any questions go for it.
Hardwired a belkin inverter into the front dash of the car. Took a little tweaking but got it to work. Great to have.

sorry to change topics. i was wondering the best way to remove the external panels on the xj country. is there a trick to it? or just gun it and run it?
