take a look. Feel free to hit me up with any more questions they are awesome to have and were much easier than they looked. One of these days i'll be in there cleaning up the wires and its much more confusing than it looks because it is all the same wire but ya use what ya got.

Engineer here too. With your "knowledge" you should know that a latch on the front and two bolts in the rear were never intend to withstand much force. Hoods are extremely week in general, which is why it doesnt take much to dent them. Even with the weaker bolts I would guess the sheet metal hood is still the weakest link in the system.
Have you ever even seen the crumple zone of a frame? There are ripples and varying sizes to create failure points, and control the forces induced, hoods have none of these. Just compare the size and thickness of the frame to the hood, its goin to do nothing for structure.
