Steering box / Frame Stiffeners / Bumper Mounts CSF Rad on XJ
Alright here we go. I always see people asking about Steering box plates, unibody reinforcing and bumper mounts. I'm gonna do all 3 at once to my 92 4 door XJ.
The reason I even decided to do all of this was that my XJ has over heating and I ordered a CSF 3 core radiator. So I decided that while its apart I will add some weight.
First was disassembly
I decided I didnt like the thin front end of the frame
Started on the steering box
Outside is 3/16 thick
Inside is 1/4. Gonna have to shave down that spacer and get some new bolts.
More to come...

Its probably only a 1/16th of an inch thick. With a bumper mounted and a good yank from an angle, it seems like it would just tweak that front end. I'm gonna tube that front end that I cut out with 2" square tubing.

Yeah I almost did that. However the stock one is pretty tall and with with two 2" pieces of tube to replace it, my approach angle will be just a tad better, and there will be a little more room to work.

Ditched that old spacer. It was 1/2 inch thick, so I used 1/4 on the inside plate alond with some squares cut out of 1/4 also to make the half inch needed for the spacer. I cut holes and welded them on top on the spacer.
Then started on the other side
I'm boxing in the ends now.
