Default homebrew tire carrier

The other day I was at my parents house helping my dad put their patio furniture away and i found a bike rack for a hitch. He told me to take it.

I got a busted hub assembly for a buddy's garage and welded it so it didn't spin. I cut the bike holding arms off and welded the hub to the pillar of the receiver

good idea but the bike stand might not be able to take the weight of a tire and wheel, most bikes are light and last i weighed my tires they were close to 100 lbs

I like how it turned out, but i am getting a piece of 2x2 steel tube to make a new receiver so the carrier is closer to the hatch. I am also thinking about cutting about 3 inches off of the pillar to drop the tire height.

P.S. I took a ride down a really rocky trail to test it out and it held up extremely well.

Make sure you use 1/4 wall 2X2 when you do the hitch part. The amount of weight/leverage on that in an offroad situation will be insane. Also, I can't tell how thick the gusset plates are but you may want to beef them up and fully weld them also.

Oh, and I just noticed you need to relocate your plate too.

yea the tube I'm getting is 3/16 thick and I know about the plate just didn't have time today. I'm going to tie it to the wheel with some wire or something.
And I'm also trying to find a d window wheel to match the ones on my jeep. Looking for it at the jy because i dont have extra cash to buy a new one.
