Here are some images I found online. I'm a little concerned about destroying my oem rails so I'm considering fabbing some other type of mount. Any input? As of right now I don't have a MIG welder so it's all hand...

thanks all. i built that roof rack but most of these look a litlle to complicated to build myself in the garage, expecially 4 the exact same. i dont have a welder. i might have to look into the already manufactured ones to see if any can mount to mine.
thanks agian

Sorry it took some time, I ended up finding some square bar racks that I think I could attach a rack to. They mount to the gutters using pretty strong straps that sinch to the gutters. I will take a Picture tomorrow and post them so you can be the judge. The way I figure it is I should be able to mount a rack as long as it is like the one gornikebounder built and it save the flooring of the rack from arching like you were concerned with.
We'll see, I'm still working on getting all the materials together for the rack (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) so I'll let ya' know...

I've attached pictures of my attempt to replicate this design and would really appreciate opinions and advice on it. My rack is narrower than most, so the mounts will have to bend a decent amount (this is also why I'm not able to just use JCR mounts). Will this severely impact their ability to hold weight or is the steel thick enough to make the bend negligible? How should I prevent the rack from having front to back movement? I'd rather not brake hard on the highway and have the rack launch through someone's rear window. Thanks!

And do you have any thoughts on the bend angles that my mounts will need to have? Will that put too much of a moment on the mount and cause it to press outward on the rain gutter instead of down into it?
