I believe it is close to 35 to 40lbs. I highly doubt it is any over 50lbs but I don't think it is any under 30lbs. That's what I love about conduit. It looks huge and bulky but any 2 people can put it up on top of the roof. It's more awkward than anything to move around.
I have a design for the kayak rack right now that should be super simple. Hopefully I will draw a pic up for it and post soon. Right now I am literally waiting for paint to dry. This is my 4th coat of paint. It looks very nice and should hold very good. If not.... just paint it again. That's what I love about black spray paint. Touch ups are so easy. I really wanted the rack to be on the Jeep tonight but I don't think that's going to happen. I used all my Krylon and switched to some Rustolium which doesn't dry anywhere close as fast as the Krylon.
Hopefully the paint will be dry in the morning so I can throw the rack up there to test it out tomorrow. It looks so good!

It's finally on!!!
I just put it all up on top this morning and it fits perfect. Here's pictures of it:
The tabs in the back are for some back up lights I haven't yet bought
I haven't yet wired the lights up but I will. That's next I just haven't had the time to do that. I am planning on building a rack for 2 kayaks and I will be building up clamps for tools and a Hi-lift on the side. I would also like to put a set of spots in the center and a pair of driving lights on the outside. These lights on there are just weak cheap 5" driving lights, but they work for now. I will also be putting some insulation or something between the roof and the rack so it will be better supported in the center. I also might throw a tire up there. I love this design because I can pretty much mount anything to it.
Thanks for everyone that's kept up on this build. It has been very slow and will continue slow. I like taking my time on it and making sure it's everything I want. This rack is perfect and I can't wait to get some use out of it!

Well here's the plan right now. I'm sure it might change by the time I start on it but this is what I have in my head. Thanks to Paint I can give you yet another vague picture
Black - Roof Rack
Red - Triangle bracket with "J" hooks on them to support bottom of kayak
Green - Support beams that are held on by bolts at each end so they are easily removed and stored away.
The problem is that I'm not sure how or where to bolt the red brackets to the black rack. I hope this picture is pretty self explanitory. It makes perfect sense to me but the difficult part is to make sure I can describe it so that you can see it properly. This will be able to store 2 kayaks with 2 straps running on top of them to hold them down. Like I said this is just the plan I haven't yet decided on it or started building it. It just seems like an easy way to do it. Plus normal Kayak mounts are like $60-$100 for just one kayak. Let me know what yall think!
