Salty ol cracker- is soldering the conduit like soldering copper pipe? Or is it more like welding? Do you heat it up and the just touch the solder rod to it like you can soldering copper?

 

yes, same as sweatting copper, just a litle hotter...that's why oxy/acetl is used, rather than Maps gas. Old timers would refer to it as Brazing.
