One of the cheapest/easiest ways i've heard of putting a type of scoop on is the hood louvers off of a chrysler labaron.
Not really a scoop but in my opinion it looks cleaner, helps cool your engine bay, and also increases the air flow through the engine bay as well.
Which those are all things i believe your trying to accomplish with a scoop so eh, thats my two cents.

Yeah you should beable to find some at a scrap yard for only a few bucks, then just figure out where you want em, then cut, place, and rivet em in.

hoos scoop
this is mine i love it.
its been working great for me in extreme rain and hot days, for example in traffic at 102f days works great.
its an extractor and the windshield get hot but my engine runs at perfect temperature & works as a defrost if you live in a cold place.
how works...
if i get stuck in mudd or in a traffic jam at 100f and dont turn it on. the air conditionig compressor valve release the gas from the A/C, and the temp. gauge go to the middle next mark.
So 4 minutes after turning it on the gauge go a little less then the middle that is the perfect temp. for that 4.0l.
how is made...
a guy that works fiberglass made it to me.
(its hand-made) you can buy one, BUT has to be bigger than the 10" fan i put in there.
at least 12"wide and 2.5" tall so the air can flow easily.
he just cut a 10" hole in the hood
bolt the fan and
bolt the hood to (just that simple)
i just ran a 14 gauge wire to the bathery, a 15amp fuse and a rocker switch.
the 10" fan is universal arround $40 (you can junkyard some cheaper) (a 12" would be great)
and the hood vent, hood hole and instalation was $60. wire, fuse & switch i already had them.
i did a lot of research in numerous forums and take over 1.5 years to decide wich model of hood vent to use. and this one works great for me. (it just need some paint)

thats really cool, ive never though of putin a fan in there. i was thinkin of havin the opening facing towards the grill, but i still like the fan idea, would having both work? would it suck in too much water when it rains u think? is thier a particular reason you put the opening facing the winshield? i take it the fan is waterproof obviously. sorry to ask so many questions, ive never really gotton into scoops till recently
