Just wondering if the stock rear bumper mounts are good enough for a custom bumper with tire swing.

im in the process now of making a back bumper, was wonderin the same thing, but after looking at the factory mounts, they look pretty beefy, and i have no idea how you bent one? pics? unless I missed a weak spot, didnt examine them that closely, just enough to see they are pretty thick and it will work as a mount for now untill I can make up some tie ins

Hello,
2" square tube into the unibody as far as it will go.
3 bolts on each side throught the gas tank skid into the tube.
Flat plate around the 2" square tube into the factory bumper mounting holes. 4 bolts on each side into the rear panel.

This is how i did mine. The 4x2 slides perfectly up inside of the unibody, then i plated the inside and outside of unibody itself with some 1/4" plate i had to keep it from crushing when the bolts were tightened. Also this helps for a heavy bumper like ive got, once you slide the tie-in up inside the unibody, the bumper sits there by itself so you can start all the bolts.

Dude, I'd totally like pictures of that mounted if possible. I dont usually bother people for extra pictures, but I'd like some of this. Thanks ahead of time if you do it.
