how did you guy's mount your custom bumpers?

I did not even use the eight bolt in the rear section, behind the bumper. I have used the bumper in numerous extractions with no issue what so ever. I plan on adding a spare tire hi-lift mount in the future, and will add the plates then, just for peace of mind, really. HTH!!

got any more pics of it and how it was made?, did you use a 2x2 to connect the the 1/4" plate and then into the 2x4? also whats the main outside made out of, is a a 2x4 c channel or 2x5?, this is such a nice bumper

Thats all the build pics i have, my old computer crashed and i lost basically everything. The bumper is made from 5 1/2" wide fork lift fork extenders, its 5/16" thick. I used 1/4" thick 2"x2" between the bumper and bracket. The factory 4 bolt hole bracket is an actually piece of the fork lift extender and the 2"x4" is some 1/8" i had laying around.

dont mean to hi jack ur thread, but does any one have a drawing of what a home-made front bumper bracket looks like with dimensions. i kept seeing it some where round here and now that i need to now cuz im guna b making a front bumper for my xj as a school project pretty soon, Thanks
