Default light bar

I have been toying with the thought of a light bar for some time now but I didn't want to mount it on the roof, to me it looks like mickey mouse ears up there. I know its hard to tell from these pictures how this will be mounted but the bar will sit about 6-8 inches down the windshield. This way it will give it a lower profile and hopefully help from having a tree branch rip it off. I'm making it out of 1 inch tubing with a 1/16 wall thickness. As the project progresses Ill post more pics of it.

So, what are you going to mount it to?

My plan as of now is to mount it to the A pillars and then running a bar from the top of the light bar back to a mount in the middle of the roof. The bar that runs to the roof top will be adjustable, that way I will be able to point the lights up or down if I feel they need tweaked. A lot of the desert race trucks use this set up.

While I really like the look of that set up it wont really work for me. The jeep is a chop top and I would have to build a pretty small rack which might look kind of funny.

So here is the light bar test fitted on the jeep. The small brackets attach to the A pillar using heavy duty sheet metal screws and I am in the process of building an adjustable stabilizing bar that will attach to the roof.

I would add a strip of rubber or some thick grommet type things in-between the bar and your windshield just as a precaution.

I second this notion. Dude I'd pay you to make me one of these. I'd do it myself but lack the ability to weld :/

If you could make one of these, and directions on how to install the beast, I think you could make a lil money on the side from these beautiful piece of work. I'd be a for sure customer
