If u sold these and had them bolt to the rain cutter the the back brace bar to the stock rack or stock rack mounting locations alot of people would be intrested as id be more of a bolt on.

So, let me see if I got this right, you don't like "roof" mounted lights because they look like mickey mouse ears, so instead you're giving your Jeep a GIANT unibrow? I hope you're short, because for a tall guy like myself I need all the upward visibility I can get. Build looks good, but your choice of placement seems kind of counter productive for your reason to not mount them on the roof.

so... idk how tall you are... but I'm 6'7" and I have to duck down to see lights and what not anywho. Something that sits over ur windshield this far will NOT effect ur visibility one bit. if ur actually "tall" then you have to duck ur head to see up anyway. lol

Also, he set his 8 inches DOWN the windshield. you could just mount them a lil higher on the A-Frame if ur worried about visibility.

I would rather have it bolt onto the A-Frame then mounted to my gutters personally. I feel that its more solid if its "one" with my Jeep

I feel his project makes complete sense... When you run a light bar on your roof, you really cant approach a low branch and comprehend how close to your lights it will be as compared to how close your roof is when your not running a light bar. By mounting the bar down the windshield your lowering your highest point and also protecting your windshield from tree branches.

i've looked into building some type of light bar like this for my Comanche as i don't want a large extremity sitting above my roof but i do want the extra lighting above my head. Because i like tight trails and am constantly maneuvering low tree branches this wouldn't be a bad solution, you could also mount tree risers and even better protect yourself.

Not really protecting the windshield. With this kind of setup small branches can't push up over the windshield, they're pinned against it and must drag off the end. If you have a big enough branch to break the windshield when you make contact with it then, well you need to learn how to drive and not be an idiot driving into tree branches that are right in front of your face and going to hit the windshield, lol.

That's all besides the point through, I simply commented because I thought it was funny that the OP didn't want roof lights because they looked like Mikey Mouse ears. In my opinion what's being proposed looks like a giant unibrow and looks way worse for only 3 or so inches it gains in height reduction; there's still lights sticking up above the roof line but now their also sticking out over the front. And being 6'7" I already have to duck forward to see stop lights and such and wouldn't want to have to kiss the dash to see anything up in the air. Granted, looking at the pictures of the rig I'm not sure it's even driven on the street so that may be a mute point.

I guess I should have been a little more clear. Im not a big fan of lights mounted in the roof with out some kind of guard, that to me looks like ears.Im not knocking the guys who do it, its just not for me. The reasons I choose this design was 1 I simply like the look (they have been running this style for years on desert trucks and more recently on ultra four cars...which im a huge fan of) and secondly nothing gets in the way of your light beam, which is probably why the desert trucks run them in the first place.By placing them on the roof the light stands the chance of reflecting off your sheet metal, this eliminates that problem. And by leaving the lights free standing you stand a chance of a low hanging branch tearing them off, were as with the guard they stand a better chance of survival. As for blocking my view this is a non issue also, The bar dose not run down the windshield any further then that blue strip the factory puts on to help block out sunlight anyway. Plus this is only a toy which does not see any street life and I don't run doors, so I could always hang my head out if i need a better view.

Here are pictures of the mount that will hold the light bar up. I plan on painting it tonight and mouting it on the roof when it dries. I will post picks as soon as I do.

Pretty cool. I like it.

I'd like to mount a light bar on top of mine but I few I'd trash it in no time. I have a hard time keeping windshields in-tact... much less a light bar.

I still have to wire the lights up but all the fab work is done. I took the jeep wheeling this past weekend and the bar took some hits from some low hanging branches. Im happy to report that it suffered no damage.
