MR2 Hood Vents/ Intro
Hi, All
This is both an intro and a question I am extending to everyone. I guess you can call me a lurker, as I have been on looking at this forum for years, just actually created an account not too long ago and am definately not new to XJs and the offroad scene. I'm a welder/Fabricator by trade, currently working full time and going to school for Mech. Engineering.
I am currently in the process of bring "TriXie" back to life. For the past few years she has been an offroad only XJ. I recently found out my wife is pregnant so I'm going to put her back on the road.... TriXie not my wife.
So to give the low down on TriXie. She is a 1990 4 door with the 4.0. It has a old RC 4.5" short arm. 33" tires. Nothing fancy, but it does what I want it to for now. I plan on making a build thread due to the many upgrades and changes I will be making in preperation for the new arrival.
So now that thats out of the way... I need your opinion. I was wandering the local pull a part and my eye was drawn to a small BRIGHT blue car… wasn’t sure what it was at first because I spotted it from a ways of. I made a B line straight towards it. As I got closer I noticed it was a 1986 Toyota MR2. Not a normal car you see in our pull a parts. As I took a look at it I noticed the deck lid. It had vents and on the underside decent looking drip pans. I thought to myself… “I have never seen someone put MR2 deck lid vents on the hood of an XJ” so I quickly unbolted it and went on my marry way.
Just yesterday I finally took a cutting wheel to it. Notice there is a slight drop between the two vents, which matches nicely to the drop on either side of the XJ hood. Here is where I need your opinion. Should I keep them together and put them on the front part of the hood. As you can see in the pic? Or split them up put half up towards the windshield and the others towards the grill? Notice I also have 1” blocks on my hood hinges. Please let me know. I won’t get butt hurt by what you say so don’t worry. Honesty is the best policy.
And sorry I know I am kind of wordy.

Awesome thanks for your input. Half the audience says split them the other say don't. I know if I don't I will probably have to cut into the main structure of the hood, but that’s no problem. I can simply restructure it.
I know you guys on this forum have opinions so let’s hear them.

Well, I know it has been a while, since I posted that I was going to install the MR2 hood vents. I have been mulling around which way I wanted my vents. I finally decided and made my cuts. Here are the pics. Hopefully I will be welding them in this weekend. Let me know what you think.
Taped
Cut
All ready for new vents
Oh this is my little helper... she wasn't reallye sure what to think.

Lol you are the first person who has ever phrased the question that way. Usually its "is that a Husky". You sure know your dogs.
It's actually both. 3/4 Malamute 1/4 Husky. Good eye.

I sure do! I have a full-blooded red husky and an alsaskan klee kai. I know, you haven't heard of the breed (neither had the vet). Look them up. Pretty much a miniature husky. Mine will be about 18 lbs.

Her sister was actually red and we were going to take her first but the breeder decided they wanted to keep the red one. We are now glad we got the one we did, because she has a mix of the colors. Top coat black middle coat red and normal white underneath. We have gotten so many compliment on her colors.
You actually might be surprised, but I do know what an Alaskan Klee Kai is. On of the trainers where we take her for training has one. They love playing together. The trainer we work directly with has a pure breed red and a pure breed black husky. Awesome dogs!

I am suprised. Both of mine are pure blooded and papered....
Here's mine. My husky is a little bigger now. Haha.

Those are good looking pups. I have always loved the red coloring. My wife and I were going to go full blood and papered, but being newly weds and youngsters and in school we couldn't afford them. So we got our mix and we couldn't be happier.

There's nothing wrong with mixes. They're all the same. I love my husky. She has the bluest eyes too!
