Default Need Opinions/Ideas

I finally mounted my Shovel to my home made roof rack.
I used some pipe hangers and hardware from lowes. 5 bucks total. I don't nessesarily mind removing 4 screws with a screw driver to remove the shovel. But i need a couple more ideas. I was thinking get a small metal sleeve and wind nut and weld them together in this order. (screw, sleeve, wing nut) Just so i wouldn't need a scewdriver. Anymore ideas on the setup i currenly have would be nice.

I would like opinions if it looks right up their.

Also I am going to put a high lift jack on the left side and was wandering if 3 stud attach points will be sturdy enough to keep it in place?

try finding a hinged hanger with wing nut. or use same set up tack bolt to backside of current bracket and use wing nut to tighten. looks good!

I looked for a hinged hanger with no luck. With the current setup, the screws already thread into the back of the clamp and that is what one of my ideas was, is to replace the screws with a screw with a wing nut type head. I was planning on welding a screw to a bushing (extension) and then weld that to a wing nut. Probably hard to picture with out a scetch of the idea.

Thanks

Another idea is to get some longer bolts to hold the clamp down, and feed them through the back. Use either an aluminum or a brass sleeve (you can get them for cheap from a hardware store) to make up the length, and top it off with a wing nut and lock washer. The sleeve will let you use the wing nut and keep it from hitting the clamp itself. It may not look really pretty, but it'll work well.

what about the fold over buckel style like on old tool boxes you can get them in wood worker supply store but you would have to change the mounting on your shovle just something diffrent to think about and you wouldnt have to worry about losing you nuts (wingnuts lol ) on the trail

These two bolts here. It looks like they just go through the top plate of the bracket, and thread into the backplate behind the shovel. Take those out, and thread longer bolts through from the back so they're stick out. Slide the sleeves down over the exposed bolts, then use the wing nuts to tighten them down. They don't need to be very long, just long enough to keep the wingnuts from hitting the hold down bracket.

here's pictures of what I did. total cost about $15.00 counting the rattle can of flat black. what I used was 1.25" flat bar. all you need is a drill, jig saw with a metal blade. I used 1/4 x 1.5" inch grade 8 bolts to clamp the bracket on the safari rack. then used 5/16 x 2" bolts that are bolted to the bracket, they act as a stud for the outer clamp that is held on by the wing nuts.

For my hi-lift jack I just used a 1"x2" that was going up and down with a bolt going from the inside out with a washer and then going in the holes in the jack then a nother washer and a lock washer and a big wing nut. In the middler I used a padalock to lock it to the rack. It cost me about $15 for the 2-bolts,4- big washers, 2-lock washers, 2- ss wingnuts, 1- mutl lock all from a farm store. the 1"x2" square tubing I had laying around.
